Your Mental Attitude and High Intensity Strength Training -

Ways To Achieve Your Best Muscle Growth

As with most physical activities your mind also plays a crucial part in the success or failure of the endeavor. Your mental attitude can dictate the performance and outcome of your training. So how do you use this to help get your best muscle growth results from your workouts?

Here is something to think about -

When are about to due a set of reps what are you thinking? Are you saying to yourself "I am going to do ten reps"? If so, the chances are you will do those ten reps and then stop, regardless of weather or not that is a real maximum effort for your muscles at your current strength level. On the other hand if you say to yourself "I am going to do as many reps as possible, in proper form" or "I am not going to stop doing these reps until I cannot possibly do another one. If this is your mindset you are more likely to train in a high intensity manner. Working to muscle failure is vital to stimulating muscle growth. If you predetermine how many reps you will complete you are obviously not training to real muscle failure.

Related to this attitude toward high intensity strength training exercise is your attitude toward the rest and recovery period between workouts. Regardless of weather your muscle are sore from your last workout it is very important to understand that it is during this recovery phase that you actually make gains. Remember - your muscles do NOT get stronger from the exercise..... but they get stronger from RECOVERING from exercise. You do not want to rush back into the gym and workout again too soon if your body is not really ready for another workout. Overtraining is one way to wipe out the benefits of a good workout and should be avoided by focusing to good rest, recovery and nutrition between workouts. Remember - your strenth training workouts should be breif, intense and in strict, proper form!
